I have benefited greatly from the training at the Hong Kong Youth Ballet Academy. The teachers are kind, inspiring and hardworking. They have greatly impacted my dream of becoming a professional dancer and I am very thankful for that. I enjoyed classes, rehearsals as well as school performances and participating in competitions. Along the way I have made many good friends and memories which I will cherish forever.

Crystal Lo

The Hong Kong Academy for Perfomring Arts, 香港演藝學院 (2016-present)

My training in Hong Kong Youth Ballet Academy in previous years allows me to have a strong foundation, which helps me to adapt in a full time training course at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts (HKAPA).

I have dreamt of joining a professional ballet school when I was small, so it was a dream come true when I was accepted by HKAPA. Besides ballet technique class, I get to take a variety of classes in academic aspect. These classes let me have a better understanding of my body, which allow me to concern more on different parts of my body during technical training in classes. I really enjoy the time in HKAPA, I got to learn other dance styles such as contemporary and Chinese dance, which allows me to think of dancing in a different way.

John Cranko Schule, Germany 德國 (2016-present)

I am so lucky that I met so many good teachers in dancing, especially teachers of Hong Kong Youth Ballet Academy, who taught me, encouraged me and supported me. Without them, I would not have the opportunity to receive professional training at the prestige John Cranko Schule. I will work hard to become a professional dancer. Thank you my teachers and I love you all!

Heeju Kang

Sunhwa Arts High School, South Korea 南韓 (2016-present)

Hong Kong Youth Ballet Academy (HKYBA) encourages students to enjoy dancing. All the teachers are passionate and care for individual students. Also, they often give students opportunities to perform on stage by joining school performances and competitions. I loved dancing as a HKYAB student and had unforgettable memories during that time.

Returning to Korea, I entered Sunhwa Arts High School, where I have great teachers in Vaganova method. We have not only ballet classes but also Character and Korean dance classes, which help us with artistic quality, musicality, and expressions.

JKO School of American Dance Theater, 美國 (2016-present)

I am very grateful to my teachers from Hong Kong Youth Ballet Academy (HKYBA) for all their guidance and support during my time in Hong Kong and for preparing me so well for the rigors of professional ballet training. I really enjoy my professional studies at the JKO School of American Ballet Theatre.  We have a demanding schedule dancing everyday and on pointe shoes.  We take classes in technique, pointe, variations, pas de deux, character, modern and dance history.  My technique teachers are from international professional companies and the classes are challenging yet very rewarding.

Alice Tsang

New Zealand School of Dance, 紐西蘭 (2016-present)

I am so lucky to have been one of the students in Hong Kong Youth Ballet Academy (HKYBA). Here I have met a group of professional and passionate teachers that you could hardly find in another place.  Without their great efforts, I would not be able to study overseas to pursue my dream.  Therefore, I would like to say a big thank you to all the teachers and staff of HKYBA.

HKYBA helped me to prepare for Asian Grand Prix International Ballet Competition where I won a scholarship to attend full time training program at the New Zealand School of Dance (NZSD). NZSD helps me to prepare myself for my dance career in all aspects. Studying in NZSD allows me to focus on dancing entirely. The great variety of classes like pas de deux and contemporary class strengthen my technique in different areas. The great facilities in the school like the pilates studio, gym studio and physiotherapy session further support my training. It is my pleasure to study in NZSD.

Denise Kwan

Northern Ballet School, 英國 (2016-present)

It was such a valuable experience to study in Hong Kong Youth Ballet Academy and work with teachers who previously danced professionally. They taught me how a good dancer should be, in both inner and outer aspects, providing an all-rounded education for us. It gave me an authentic taste of being a mature and independent dancer that takes every part of life into consideration. It helped to prepare for my study at the Northern Ballet School.

Northern Ballet School is a course tailored made for individuals with lots of focus on strengthening one's weakness through daily workout and fitness. It is a good experience of different teaching styles, and a great opportunity to learn company's repertoire and get involved in preparing for a future professional environment.

Tirion Law

New Zealand School of Dance, 紐西蘭 (2013-2015)

I joined Hong Kong Youth Ballet Academy (formerly L’Ecole de Jeune Ballet) when I was 8 years old and had ballet training for 8 years. Under the professional training of the school and numerous stage performance opportunities, I have improved so much and become a strong dancer. Every year in summer, I followed the school to participate in many different international ballet competitions in Hong Kong and Japan. In 2012, I was awarded the Asian Grand Prix Award from Asian Grand Prix International Ballet Competition, and received a full time scholarship to attend the New Zealand School of Dance.

Joining the New Zealand School of Dance, I have been given so many opportunities to try, learn and perform. I have learnt so much from the school, not only technical skills but also how to become a professional dancer.

Pansy Lo

The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, 香港演藝學院 (2010-2015)

Studying in Hong Kong Youth Ballet Academy (HKYBA) is the first turning point of my life. I really appreciate all the teacher's guidance, encouragement, and support, which helped to build up as a strong base for me to attend professional school. I like the system of HKYBA students are divided by talent and technical level, not by age. Teachers design exercises for the individual level of the class, and the focus is on strengthening student's weakness, not preparing for examination. All the teachers of HKYBA are former professional dancers from Hong Kong Ballet, they shared their life experience to me, gave me solid advices on how I could step closer to my dream of being a professional dancer.

Joining The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) is my dream and a very important step to become professional dancer.  I love the life of striving to be better, practice again and again. This made me stronger and guided me to become a mature dancer. The school also introduced me to contemporary dance, which is a very important turning point of my dance career.

Natalie Tang

The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, 香港演藝學院 (2010-2015)

The training in Hong Kong Youth Ballet Academy (formerly L’Ecole de Jeune Ballet) was an unique experience as we did not follow the usual examination system. Rather than taking examination every year, we would learn variations and went to different competitions held in Hong Kong and overseas. I could see myself a significant improvement was made after every competition. The experience in dancing different variations provided an advantage for me to quickly learn new repertoires when I studied at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA).

The professional full-time training at HKAPA was a great change to me. I was honorable enough to be instructed by prestigious teachers. It had a great influence in my artistry and technique. Furthermore, the school would invite different artists and choreographers every year to teach and choreograph a piece with students that perform at the end of the semester. It provided great opportunities to work with artists from around the world and allowed students to experience different styles of dance.
