Mike WANG graduated from the Shanghai Dance School in 1988. He received a scholarship to study at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts the following year, and attained a high certificate in choreography.
In 1990, he joined Le Jeune Ballet de France and Le Compagnie Jean-Christophe Maillot in France as a soloist dancer.
WANG joined the Hong Kong Ballet in 1993 and performed as principal dancer until 2013, taking on principal roles such as the Prince in The Nutcracker, Lucien in Paquita, Albrecht in Giselle, James in La Sylphide, the Prince in Cinderella, Colas in La Fille Mal Gardée, Prince Siegfried in Swan Lake, The Man in Unknown Territory by Choo San Goh, Vronsky in Anna Karenina, the Artist in Two Pigeons, Pu Yi in The Last Emperor, and Solor in La Bayadère.
In 2003, Mr. Wang was featured as one of the Outstanding Dance Artists in the Hong Kong Dance Hall of Fame by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council.
He is currently the Ballet Master of the Asian Grand Prix International Ballet Competition, and a principal teacher of Hong Kong Youth Ballet Academy.
